Your Digital Transcription Managed by Experts
Transcription itself, digital or other, is the art of turning the spoken word into the written word. Sometimes it is called digital dictation, audio typing and audio transcription but these terms generally refer to ‘office correspondence’.
Some transcription service providers purely transcribe what they hear, or think they hear. Others use automatic software to interpret close language matches. We go much further. At Alphabet, we don’t offer dictation or software solutions. We provide full service digital transcription.
What does Full Service Digital Transcription mean?
By full service, we mean that we do everything required to deliver the final, accurate transcript – to save you time. We research the subject first to familiarise ourselves with content and terminology. We then allocate our work to specialist proof readers to check for accuracy. We also include verbatim transcription for clients who require all utterances documented for legal purposes and, for clients who require transcripts for the hearing impaired, we include references to accents, voice pitch, emotion and ambient sounds.
Transcription has come a long way since we started in 1995. Back then we worked with cassette tapes despatched in the post. These days, the majority of recordings we receive are digital, for example, MP3, WAV, Windows Media, etc., and our clients appreciate the security and convenience of being able to upload their sound files via our online portal.
Digital files come in many formats – far too many to list here – and we accept most (the higher the sound quality, the better).
What does a transcriber do?
Put simply, we listen to your digital sound files and transcribe them accurately, so that you have a precise record, in writing, of what you have recorded.
